Service Description

Space planning is key for any interior design project: furniture, fixtures and fittings must be arranged in a layout that works. I help you zero in on practicalities and the specific functional requirements of the space, namely who will use the room and how and when they will use it. We consider the room’s size, aspect, orientation, interior architecture and existing or new features such as steps, fireplaces, entrance points & radiators. Whether installing new lighting or electric points or working with those currently in situ, I can help optimise your lighting layout - for both hard-wired and portable fittings - to provide task and mood lighting as required. Then, I suggest the most efficient, ergonomic and aesthetically pleasing furniture arrangement. BEST FOR: Existing rooms to be renovated, remodelled or redecorated. Newly built/renovated reception rooms or bedrooms - often a blank canvas! Pre-build advice on furniture/lighting layout ahead of first and second fix plumbing and electrics. WHAT YOU GET: 60-90 minute on-site consultation to discuss the room in detail, your functional requirements of the space, any constraints and my initial thoughts on possible layout solutions. I will take photographs for reference and measure up. Within 4 weeks of your on-site design consultation: Annotated floor plan, drawn to scale, with a suggested furniture layout plus the location of electrical points and light fittings. Hand-drawn sketches of any built-in furniture ideas (if relevant) with reference imagery (these can be shared with joiners/furniture makers later on to inform quotations and any technical drawings). COST: £195 flat rate fee per room.
